that said i guess anytime a site goes live where ever it is listed any malicious person can use their spiders to phish for domain names and email addresses to bombard with spam.

I know from experiance. in the attempt to assist people in the past here on answers i set up a special email address on my personal mail server (now deleted from the mail server). a very bad move as it started to get a lot of spam mail that was sent to the server and bounced to other external mail servers or rather it would have bounced if my server was set up to block external to external mail and if the server had not had a good set of malware defences.

For server administrators check the root folder of your mail server. stoop the server for a few minutes and check the content of all mail in the root folder (the area that houses the mail before it is passed to the named email recipient. those message should all be either from or to users on your server and the contents should be within your companies guidlines. iif you come accross any that are blatently spam and are not addressed to anyone on your server you need to read the contents the chances are that that message is spam (porn or drugs typically). erase from the server and be sure to block external to external mail.

it will have no effect on your companies ability to send and recieve legitimate email. if mail is forwarded to another mail server this will be unaffected if the mail server is configured such as mail.me.com copy.mail.me.com where the domains listed here relate to your servers configurations.

very simple and effect at stopping spam from passing through your servers and possibly giving your company a bad reputation when spam apparently originates from your servers.

for the record as you probably guessed yes i do administer a couple of domain names hosted on my server the one site is just a simple news and information for my neighbourhood, the other is simply used for personal email between friends and family.

no point listing the domain names as the sites are specific to me and my neighbours and of no interest or use to anyone else.

and no i do not use any of the sites listed in the question. they can't be classed as a site, just a page that has limited customization and funcionality.
