I'm not sure why your tutor couldn't give you the correct syntax but...Mailto links do need the href tag...and all those are wrong because they don't point to an email address.

%26lt;a href="mailto:josh@yahoo.com"%26gt;josh@yahoo....

The mailto: protocol is setup in your registry (you're using windows)

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto

It might be setup for outlook, depends on your setting.

Your mailto: statement should have LHS@RHS for email addresses. Those are just domains and won't work.

Example:

%26lt;a href="mailto:prince.william@monarchy.co.... here%26lt;/a%26gt;

None of your examples are correct. They are all URL's, or parts of URL's, not e-mail addresses.

The HTML syntax you need is ...

%26lt;a href="mailto:fred.smith@yahoo.com"%26gt;Fred Smith%26lt;/a%26gt;
